On an island in St Aubin's Bay, the battlements date back to the 1590's when Sir Walter Raleigh was Governor of Jersey from 1600 to 1603 and the grounds gave refuge to King Charles ll during the English Civil War. More recently, the bunkers were re-fortified to command the sea approaches during the German Occupation in World War ll.

Open from May 1st to 30th September, the Lavender Farm is less than a mile from the St.Magloire. There is a nature trail, a distillery, guided tours and a shop selling the herbs and oils. Probably the prettiest bay on the Island is a short bus ride or approximately a 45 minute walk on the "Railway Walk" to the horseshoe shaped St Brelade's Bay. It goes without saying that it is a sandy beach !
